Literature Text

Dependency,

Like a hungry babe suckles for its mother's teat,

Or the moon, which sanctions the stir of Poseidon's waters,

Has its clutch on the soul of man, God's most enfeebled work.

For man, in himself, is ceaseless reliant

On the association with fellow mind and make.

Whether it charges the spirit in ardour extended,

Or strikes, a bolt of sheer belittlement, crushing the core - conductive.

He will endlessly wander, seeking the warmth of connection,

With instinctual vehemence and sagacity omit,

For there is nothing but the need.
One of my midnight creations that briefly explores man's dependant yearning for relationships. I'm not sure whether I actually like this... I originally posted it here [link]
Hope you like it :)

The painting is 'The Siren' by John William Waterhouse.

Good morning, afternoon or evening to you also :) Yes, I think the painting does represent your theory of parasitism quite exceptionally, and I hope my poem was able to contribute to this. I discovered 'The Siren' whilst conducting my art studies into femininity associated with mythology. However I chose it to stand for my poem because I think it denotes what I'm trying to convey - that man's need for companionship is so formidable. It can overcome logic and instill frenzy.
